About Klean Biochar
Klean Biochar is the biochar and carbon removal business of Klean Industries Inc., an engineering company that builds the plants it sells from.
Most organisations in this market do one thing: they trade char, or they sell equipment, or they originate carbon credits. Klean sits across all three, and that position is deliberate. The people specifying a biochar product are the same people specifying the kiln, the gas train and the control philosophy that produce it. Nothing is subcontracted to a story.
An operating record since 2012
The clearest evidence is the 1 MW biochar power plant Klean operates in Japan, developed with Chubu Electric Power, Seiko Epson and the Toyama Research Institute and in continuous operation since 2012. It produces around 1,000 tonnes of biochar annually, exports base-load green electricity equivalent to the demand of roughly 1,000 homes, and offsets more than 6,500 tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year. Field trials in Japan linked to that work have recorded crop yield increases of 10 to 30 percent.
Technology that travels
Klean's reference process is biomass pyrolysis in an indirectly heated rotary kiln, producing biochar, syngas and bio-oil. Where the feedstock will not come to the plant, the plant goes to the feedstock: a 40 tonne-per-day mobile biomass pyrolysis retort, MORPPS, has started operations in Vancouver. The same engineering discipline applies at both scales.
How projects are delivered
Work typically begins with a feasibility study — feedstock characterisation, mass and energy balance, product yields, offtake options and capital and operating cost. If the numbers hold, Klean carries the project through design, engineering and turn-key delivery. Clients are buying from a group that has commissioned facilities and operated them, not from a consultancy reading the same reports as everyone else.
What we will share
Public pages carry the shape of the technology and the headline performance of operating assets. Detailed yield data, plant economics, carbon accounting methodology and feedstock-specific results are commercially sensitive and are released under NDA to parties with a live project.

Work with an operator, not an intermediary
Klean Biochar is backed by a 1 MW plant running since 2012 with Chubu Electric Power, Seiko Epson and the Toyama Research Institute, plus a 40 tonne-per-day mobile retort in Vancouver.
